Job summary

Georg Fischer LLC in Irvine, CA, seeks a skilled Plastic Welding Technician for 2nd shift to fabricate plastic items, read drawings, and ensure quality with minimal scrap. You’ll operate welding equipment and support workflow at your workstation.

Must read blueprints, layout dimensions, and use a tape measure; experience with polypropylene and other plastics is a plus. HS diploma and safety compliance expected; some travel may be required.

Responsibilities

• Fabricate plastic items using welding, drilling, and sawing.
• Read and interpret technical drawings.
• Maintain high quality and minimize scrap.
• Inform supervisor/QC of questions or discrepancies.
• Ensure on-time delivery of products.
• Manage drawings/work orders and material flow at workstation.
• Set-ups and maintain welding equipment; notify of problems.
• Follow safety and quality requirements.
• Repairs and reworks as necessary.
• Monitor dimensions and adjust machines for material/dimensions.
• Prepare test/sample welds and perform tests.
• Assist in boxing of finished components for storage or shipment.
• Follow handbook procedures and department instructions.

• Perform all other duties as assigned.

Job description

Performs plastic welding as well as some assembly of custom fabrications of a medium to high difficulty requiring skill and accuracy.

2nd Shift Schedule: Monday – Friday 1:00 PM - 9:30 PM

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Fabricate plastic items using various techniques, such as welding, drilling, and sawing.
• Read and interpret technical drawings.
• Maintains a high quality and keeps scrap to a minimum.
• Informs supervisor and QC immediately of questions, or discrepancies.
• Jointly responsible for on-time delivery of products.
• Responsible for drawings/ work orders and material-flow at his/her workstation.
• Set-ups (may include pulling parts) and maintains welding equipment, notifying supervisor/manager of any problems.
• Adheres to all safety and quality requirements.
• Repairs and reworks parts as necessary.
• Monitors critical dimensions and adjust machines for different material and/or dimensions.
• Prepare test/sample welds and perform various tests.
• Assists in boxing of finished components for storage or shipment, as necessary.
• Follows the procedures as presented in the Employee Handbook, Etiquette Brochure, department procedures, captures contact information, and follows verbal, written or diagram instructions as provided by supervisors and managers.
• Committed to the protection of the environment and the health and safety of our employees, customers, and neighbors.
• All other duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Ability to read blueprints.

• Ability to use all plastic fabrication tools with minimal supervision.

• Certified on all IR and WM machines Certified Socket Weld.
• Performs all operations according to prescribed safety principles.
• Ability to work with and preserve confidential and proprietary information.
• Acts as Company representative at other company locations, or at other companies.
• Presents a professional appearance as well as presents a professional attitude with customers, distributors, vendors and other company personnel.
• Ability to drive with valid driver’s license for Company reasons, occasionally.
• Mechanically inclined.
• Certified on some IR Machines.

WM Education and Experience:

• High School Diploma or GED equivalency, preferred.
• Experience with fabrication, mechanical assembly, plastic welding and/or related experience.
• Experience welding polypropylene PP, HDPE, PVDF & PVC plastics.
• Passing a Company post-employment physical as well as controlled substance testing and background and security checks, as required.

Salary Range:

Salary Range: $25 - $28 Per Hour (Based on Experience) + Bonus
