Job summary

Georg Fischer LLC in Irvine, CA is seeking a Plastic Fabricator for 2nd shift (1:00 PM - 9:30 PM) to fabricate plastic parts, read blueprints, and ensure quality. You’ll weld, drill, and saw materials while maintaining safety and efficiency.

The role requires 1–3 years of plastic fabrication experience, a high school diploma or GED, and basic measurement skills. You’ll work with the assembly team to meet customer specs and support packaging and shipping needs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; trade school or technical training preferred.
• 1–3 years of plastic fabrication, machining, or assembly in production/shop.
• Experience welding polypropylene PP, HDPE, PVDF & PVC plastics.

Responsibilities

• Fabricate plastic items using welding, drilling, sawing techniques.
• Interpret blueprints, drawings and specs to determine fabrication needs.
• Maintain high quality and minimize scrap.
• Measure and inspect components to ensure conformance to standards.
• Ensure on-time delivery in collaboration with the team.
• Maintain clean work area and perform routine tool maintenance.
• Repair and rework parts as necessary.
• Monitor critical dimensions and adjust machines for material/dimensions.
• Prepare test welds and perform various tests.
• Assist with building crates for storage or shipment as needed.
• Train others on fabrication processes; follow safety PPE requirements.

2nd Shift Schedule

Monday – Friday 1:00 PM - 9:30 PM

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Fabricate plastic items using various techniques, such as welding, drilling, and sawing.
• Interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine fabrication requirements for plastic parts and assemblies.
• Maintains a high quality and keeps scrap to a minimum.
• Measure and inspect components to ensure conformance with quality standards and tolerances.
• Jointly responsible for on-time delivery of products.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area and perform routine maintenance on tools and equipment.
• Repairs and reworks parts as necessary.
• Monitors critical dimensions and adjust machines for different material and/or dimensions.
• Prepare test/sample welds and perform various tests.
• Assists with building crates to box finished goods for storage or shipment, as necessary.
• Work cross-functionally with the assembly team and other production support to fabricate according to customer specifications.
• Train other employees as needed on fabrication process.
• Adhere to safety protocols, environmental standards, and PPE requirements during all work activities.
• Performs all other duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities

• Ability to read blueprints with guidance from experienced fabricators.
• Ability to read and use tape measurer.
• Ability to use certain plastic fabrication tools with moderate supervision.
• Ability to carry out instructions with moderate supervision.
• Performs all operations according to prescribed safety principles.
• Mechanically inclined.

Education and Experience

High school diploma or GED required, trade school or technical training in plastic fabrication or industrial manufacturing preferred. 1–3 years of experience in plastic fabrication, machining, or assembly in a production or shop environment. Experience with fabrication, mechanical assembly, plastic welding and/or related experience. Experience welding polypropylene PP, HDPE, PVDF & PVC plastics.

Working Conditions / Physical Requirements

Frequent standing, bending, lifting, and working with hands in a production setting. Ability to safely and effectively perform the essential functions of the position in a work environment that may include exposure to noise, dust, chemicals, sharp objects, moving or rotating mechanical equipment, and varying or uncontrolled temperatures. Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs. regularly. Perform repetitive motions such as bending, twisting, kneeling, stooping, lifting, gripping, and grasping with hands. Use of lift assistance devices such as overhead crane and forklift with training may be required. Manual dexterity with the ability to handle parts and tools with precision. Use of PPE such as gloves, eye protection, and steel-toe shoes required.

Salary Range

$22 - $25 Per Hour (Based on Experience) + Bonus
