Job summary

Kensington Glass Arts in Ijamsville, MD is seeking a Fabrication Technician to actively participate in the fabrication department and produce glass per the production schedule.

Responsibilities include fabricating glass, sorting and staging, maintaining a clean work area, and assisting with SOPs and production KPIs. OSHA 10 certification desired; at-will employer; comprehensive benefits package is offered.

  • Fabricate glass accurately according to the production schedule.

  • Maintain a clean work environment and manage breakage, disposal, and workspace organization.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining SOPs for cutting processes.
  • Coordinate with maintenance for machine cleaning and repairs as needed.

GENERAL SUMMARY

The Fabrication Technician is responsible for taking an active role in the fabrication department and fabricating glass as required by the production schedule.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Responsible for accurately fabricating all glass as required.
  • Responsible for sorting and staging glass as required.
  • Responsible for maintaining a clean work environment; cleaning up breakage, disposing of damaged glass, keeping a clean floor area around walking surfaces, keeping station desks clean and organized, etc.
  • Maintain, clean and organize all cutoff and specialty stock racks.
  • Expected to participate in any activity requiring additional help, helping and organizing as required.
  • Responsible for maintaining regular cleaning, repair and general maintenance of the machines and coordinating those efforts with our workload and management.
  • Expected to be instrumental and responsive to changes in the production schedule as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Fabrication Technician will be OSHA 10 certified.
SPECIFIC DUTIES
  • Assist in developing and maintaining Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for cutting processes.
  • Assist in design and implementation of production KPMs.
  • Assist in identification of KPMs to create a completely accountable, 100% customer satisfaction goal.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • While performing the duties of the job the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms and talk or hear.
  • The employee exerts up to 100 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 50lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force constantly to move objects.
  • Vision requirements include clarity of vision at 20 inches or less; clarity of vision at 20 feet or more; ability to identify and distinguish colors; the ability to observe an area that can be seen up and down or the left and right while eyes are fixed on a given point; the ability to judge distances and spatial relationships; and the ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus.
  • Work is performed in shop environment with frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts, outdoor weather conditions and vibration. There is occasional exposure to humid and extreme non-weather related cold or hot conditions. There is frequent exposure to constant very loud sounds sufficient enough to cause distraction.
