Job summary

Practical Applications, Inc. in Woburn, MA is seeking a Fabrication Technician to fabricate equipment per drawings and assemble components for water treatment systems. You will contribute to CAD feedback and help prepare equipment maintenance manuals and supporting customer documents.

You will also maintain the fabrication shop on a daily basis and perform other duties as assigned, collaborating with the team to keep projects on schedule and compliant with safety standards.

Qualifications

• Experience with industrial controls and mechanical systems.
• Experience with special piping materials such as polypropylene and stainless steel.
• Experience with industrial fluid handling systems (pumps, mixers, flowmeters).
• Ability to read/modify mechanical drawings and electrical schematics.
• Ability to operate fabrication machinery (lathe, drill press, hand tools).

Job description

Company: Practical Applications, Inc. Location: Woburn, MA

Responsibilities include fabrication of equipment per drawings. Compile, analyze, and provide feedback on CAD drawings of water treatment systems. Assist with preparation of equipment maintenance manuals along with supporting documents for the customer. Maintain the fabrication shop daily and perform all other duties assigned.

Reporting

The Fabrication Technician will report to the Fabrication Manager.

Responsibilities

• Offer solutions to keep projects within budget
• Work well independently and in a team environment
• Plan and implement new methods and procedures to make daily operations or system designs more efficient
• Fabricate, install, troubleshoot, maintain and repair the following devices and systems:
  • Sensors
  • Relay Logic
  • AC and DC motors, controls, and drives
• Identify parts for new installation or replacement
• Read, interpret, and collaborate on schematics
• Understand documentation principles
• Study schematics, manuals, to determine installation or system modification procedures
• Any other related duties directed by management

Qualifications

• Experience with Industrial Controls and mechanical systems (unistrut, skids, frames, etc.)
• Experience with special piping and piping materials (polypropylene, stainless steel, etc.)
• Experience with industrial fluid handling systems (pumps, mixers, flowmeters, etc.)
• Read and modify mechanical drawings and electrical schematics
• Ability to operate fabrication machinery (lathe, drill press, hand tools, etc.)

Desired Qualifications

• CNC Manufacturing Capability
• Be able to read P&IDs
• Prior fabrication/construction/manufacturing experience desired
• Perform basic programming, basic design, and troubleshooting of systems
• Physical qualifications include but is not limited to:
• Ability to stand for 8-10 hours (or more)
• Ability to twist, turn, squat, climb, lift, push, and pull
• Ability to carry/lift parts that weigh from 25-100lbs
• Able to do repetitive motions (drilling, cleaning, and application of fasteners)
