Job summary

Microspecorporation in Peterborough, NH, is seeking a maintenance technician to fabricate, modify, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain fixtures, equipment, and facility systems to support production and safety.

• Valid state-issued driver's license required.

Responsibilities

• Fabricate fixtures, tooling, guards, brackets, and components from drawings or samples.
• Modify and improve existing jigs and support equipment for safety and efficiency.
• Set up and safely operate machine shop equipment, welding equipment, and power tools.
• Plan, prioritize, and complete fabrication and repair projects with limited supervision.
• Maintain accurate records of work, parts used, and status updates.
• Complete Microspec documentation including routers, logs, and PM forms.
• Troubleshoot, repair, and upgrade manufacturing equipment and facility systems.
• Perform scheduled preventive maintenance and identify follow-up work.
• Assist in identifying root causes and corrective actions for recurring issues.
• Respond to urgent needs while maintaining safe work practices.
• Provide guidance to Level 1 technicians and communicate equipment needs.
• Support continuous improvement in production flow and fixture reliability.

Job description

Educational and Skills requirements:

3. Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot equipment, fixtures, tooling, and facility-related issues with limited supervision.

5. Basic computer skills required; Microsoft Office and CAD experience preferred.

Reports To: Maintenance Assistant Manager

Primary responsibility: Independently fabricate, modify, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain fixtures, equipment, and facility systems to support production, quality, safety, and continuous improvement objectives.

Essential functions of the position (not limited to tasks listed):

Equipment & Fixture Fabrication

1. Fabricate new fixtures, tooling, guards, brackets, and equipment components from engineering drawings, sketches, verbal instructions, or existing samples.
2. Modify and improve existing jigs, fixtures, and support equipment to improve safety, usability, quality, or production efficiency.
3. Set up and safely operate machine shop equipment, welding equipment, hand tools, and power tools within assigned capabilities.

Project Management & Documentation

1. Plan, prioritize, and complete assigned fabrication, repair, and improvement projects with limited supervision.
2. Maintain accurate records of upcoming, in-process, and completed work, including parts used, work performed, and status updates.
3. Complete required Microspec documentation including routers, logs, records, preventive maintenance forms, and project notes.

Maintenance & Repair

1. Troubleshoot, repair, adjust, and upgrade manufacturing equipment, support equipment, and facility systems as requested.
2. Perform scheduled preventive maintenance per documented procedures and identify follow-up work needed to maintain equipment reliability.
3. Assist in identifying root causes of recurring maintenance issues and recommend corrective actions.
4. Respond to urgent equipment or facility needs while maintaining safe work practices and communicating status to appropriate personnel.

Leadership, Safety & Continuous Improvement

1. Provide guidance to Level 1 technicians on routine fabrication, maintenance, documentation, and safe work practices when requested.
2. Communicate material, tooling, safety, and equipment needs to the Maintenance Team Lead or appropriate personnel.
3. Support continuous improvement activities related to production flow, fixture reliability, workplace organization, and preventive maintenance effectiveness.

General & Other Duties

1. Other tasks as requested or required by Management.
2. Possible off-shift winter grounds maintenance, as requested.
