Job summary

Socket.dev Houston is seeking a skilled fabrication technician to build and assemble components in a small shop environment. You will measure, cut, fit, and weld parts per drawings, using hand and power tools.

The role requires safety, accuracy, and teamwork, with overtime during peak periods. Read schematics and interpret mechanical, piping, and electrical drawings as needed.

High school or GED is required; trade-school training or equivalent experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Must have fabrication skills and produce accurate results.
• Team-oriented with ability to solve issues in project work.
• Self-starter with desire to learn equipment, hardware, and processes.
• Strong time management and attention to detail.
• Basic math including fractions; able to use common hand tools.
• Read and interpret fabrication drawings and diagrams.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe, clean, organized work environment.
• Operate hand and power tools, take measurements, and fit components.
• Overtime may be required during peak times.
• Read, interpret, and fabricate per project drawings.
• Rationalize drawings and identify fabrication issues before execution.
• Fabricate with plastics, polymers, metals, piping, and wiring as needed.
• Redline drawings for engineering corrections and resubmit.
• Perform administrative and related responsibilities as assigned.
• Perform building and equipment maintenance as needed.
