Job summary

Matrix Project Services in Bakersfield, CA is seeking a skilled foreman to supervise fabrication craft workers, enforce safety rules, and coordinate production activities. You will read blueprints, determine labor and equipment needs, and adjust sequences to meet the schedule.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years of foreman experience in fabrication, strong leadership and communication skills, and a solid grasp of fabrication equipment operation.

Qualifications

• 5+ years foreman experience in a fabrication facility.
• Ability to lead and mentor the team.
• Strong supervisory skills to manage numerous craft workers.
• Strong verbal and written communication to liaise with workers and management.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Knowledge of operation of fabrication equipment; troubleshoot as needed.
• Extremely knowledgeable and thorough understanding of how to utilize various blueprint drawings.
• Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical information, such as codes (ASME, API-650-620).
• Responsible for the quality of all fabricated materials.
• Good computer skills: scheduling/tracking materials and completed parts utilizing various software packages.
• Legible printing / handwriting; read tape measure.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record (if operating company vehicles).

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate fabrication craft workers to meet production needs.
• Enforce safety rules and company code of conduct.
• Review blueprint drawings to determine procedures.
• Determine labor support and equipment needs based on schedule and volume.
• Adjust work sequences to meet production schedules.
• Conduct toolbox and safety meetings.
• Identify safety hazards and take corrective actions.
• Ensure production schedules are achieved.
• Perform other duties as required.
• Teach and share techniques to improve productivity and accuracy.
