About the Fire Protection Fabrication Shop Associate

The FP Fabrication Shop Associate is responsible for moving material from stock to shop and maintaining inventory levels. They also move finished fabrication and other miscellaneous ancillary items from the shop to the loading dock or offsite storage, assisting in the warehouse. They support the Fabrication/Logistics team by preparing material for shipping, cleaning the fabrication shop, logging deliveries, putting away stock, and working on other projects inside the warehouse or on deliveries.

  • Move raw stock and components into shops.
  • Move finished fabrication and miscellaneous parts onto the dock.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area.
  • Receive and distribute materials.
  • Load, unload, and log deliveries.
  • Maintain shop organization.
  • Exhibit the value of competencies for the company, department, employees and business partners.
  • Promote a positive safety culture by adhering to policies and procedures set out by the department.
Education & Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent relevant experience.
Required Skills
  • Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated time management.
  • Ability to manage shifting priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Demonstrated problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity.
  • Knowledge of Boston and surrounding areas.
  • Experience in material handling (preferred).
  • Forklift license preferred (training will be provided).
Physical Requirements

Must be capable of performing various physically demanding tasks essential to shop/warehouse operations. This includes the ability to lift and carry heavy objects weighing up to 25 pounds repeatedly throughout the day, as well as standing, walking, bending, stooping, reaching, and climbing for extended periods. Additionally, the position requires dexterity to handle fragile or delicate items with care, accurately read labels and instructions, and follow safety protocols diligently to maintain a secure working environment.
