Job summary

Westlake Plastics, a world-leading plastics manufacturer, seeks a Fabrication Operator to support shop orders with lathes, drill presses, and milling equipment. You will read orders, select tools, measure parts, and maintain safe processes on 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM shifts, Monday–Friday.

Required are a HS diploma and 2+ years in a job shop, plus solid math, basic computer skills, and good communication. Competitive hourly pay and benefits are offered, including PTO and 401K.

  • Operation of manual lathes, drill presses and other standard job shop machines.
  • Must understand materials, cutting tools, speeds and feeds and machining techniques.

  • Basic awareness of electricity and the risks attached.

Responsibilities

  • Fabricates plastic rods, slabs, and sheets in accordance with Shop Orders.
  • Performs all tasks in a safe and responsible manner.
  • Reads and interprets Shop Orders.
  • Uses gages and measuring instruments to meet tolerance requirements.
  • Uses precision tools, machinery and equipment such as lathes, vertical milling machines, drill presses, chop saws, band saws, and planers.
  • Properly and safely selects, aligns, secures and removes holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories and materials onto machine.
  • Recognizes, deploys and properly uses inserts, fixtures and tooling.
  • Performs daily and regular cleaning and light maintenance tasks on machinery and equipment.
  • Evaluates experimental procedures and recommends change or modifications for efficiency and adaptability to setup and production.
  • Possesses ability to track parts and jobs.
  • Utilizes and abides by all safety procedures.
  • Complies with all quality policies, specifications, regulations and instructions.

The hours for this position are 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday through Friday.

The Fabrication operator’s duties and responsibilities may include but not be limited to the following:

Requirements

Fabrication operator skills and abilities required:

Education and Experience
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • At least two (2) year experience in a job shop atmosphere
  • Knowledge in the safe operation of the following equipment: horizontal lathes of all sizes, portable resurfacing machines and drill presses

Ability to lift a minimum of 50lbs
