Job summary

Thompson First Group is seeking Fabrication Operator/Assemblers for contract-to-hire roles with a local client. Candidates with experience in mechanical, electrical, or electronic assembly in a manufacturing environment are encouraged to apply.

Qualifications

  • Experience in construction, carpentry, drywall, or related hands-on trade.
  • Ability to safely operate small tools and power tools.
  • Ability to read blueprints, drawings, and instructions.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety standards.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs.

  • Load/unload and position materials for transport; maintain clean work area.
  • Collaborate with team to meet production schedules and timelines.
  • Work independently when required while staying aligned with team goals.

Job description

Thompson First Group is seeking Fabrication Operator/Assemblers for contract-to-hire positions with a local client. Candidates with experience in mechanical, electrical, or electronic assembly in a manufacturing environment are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities:

  • Assemble and install metal building structures, including standing walls, roofs, sheet metal, fiber insulation, and foam board insulation.
  • Install doors, windows, panels, framing, and other structural or mechanical components according to specifications.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and work instructions.
  • Perform detailed assembly work to ensure products meet quality, safety, and customer standards.
  • Verify materials and hardware to confirm completeness prior to shipment.
  • Safely operate forklifts, man lifts, and other material handling equipment.
  • Load, unload, position, and secure building materials and finished assemblies for transport.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area through regular housekeeping.
  • Collaborate with team members, leads, and supervisors to meet production schedules and delivery timelines.
  • Work independently when required while remaining aligned with team goals.
  • Adapt to changing priorities, production schedules, design changes, and unexpected challenges.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Experience in construction, carpentry, drywall, general construction, insulation, or a related hands-on trade.
  • Ability to safely operate small tools, grinders, drills, and other hand and power tools.
  • Familiarity with mechanical assembly and installation processes.
  • Ability to read and follow blueprints, drawings, and detailed work instructions.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality and safety standards.
  • Ability to safely perform a range of physical activities, including standing and walking for extended periods, with frequent use of hands for tasks requiring dexterity and grip.
  • Ability to frequently bend, kneel, and maintain balance, with occasional climbing or repositioning to support production needs.
  • Ability to perform medium-duty work, including lifting, carrying, or moving materials up to 50 lbs. occasionally, 30 lbs. frequently, and 10 lbs. consistently.
  • Ability to effectively communicate, hear, and visually assess work to ensure quality, safety, and accuracy in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment that may not be climate-controlled and may include exposure to varying temperatures.
