Job summary

Avantor is seeking a Fabrication Mechanic to perform fabrication work including cutting, welding, sheet metal work, metal finishing, and machinery assembly. The ideal candidate has a High School diploma and at least 5 years of relevant experience, with welding certifications considered a plus.

Responsibilities include fabricating fixtures and machinery, reading drawings, troubleshooting equipment, and following SOPs.

Qualifications

High School diploma or equivalent required.
Minimum 5 years of relevant experience required.
Welding certifications are a plus. Welding (GTAW, SMAW, GMAW, FCAW) and related fabrication skills are preferred.
Experience in sheet metal work, pipefitting, plumbing and machining (mill, lathe) is desirable.
Ability to interpret engineering drawings and perform basic equipment troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

Fabricate/modify increasingly complex fixtures and machinery.
Laying out, cutting, fitting, measuring and welding various metals to spec.
Follow welding standards and SOPs to achieve required outcomes.
Work from drawings, blueprints, manuals, and written instructions for installation, repair, and maintenance.
Troubleshoot and repair machinery and facility systems; initiate purchase orders for parts or services.
Identify safety issues and contribute to improvements.
