Job summary

Caterpillar Inc. seeks a 3rd Shift Fabrications Manufacturing Engineer in Sanford, NC to maintain and improve production processes. You’ll analyze systems, design tooling, troubleshoot issues and lead process improvements with cross-functional teams.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in engineering, 3+ years of shop-floor experience, and proficiency with AutoCAD/CREO. Expect a focus on lean manufacturing, CNC tooling, PLCs, and ERP routings.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or engineering technology required.
• 3+ years of manufacturing engineering shop floor experience preferred.
• Experience with AutoCAD/CREO and 3D modeling beneficial.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally.
• Experience creating and maintaining routings in ERP systems; time studies are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform technical analysis of manufacturing processes to support management decisions.
• Design/direct the acquisition, design, fabrication and repair of tooling and machines.
• Troubleshoot day-to-day process issues and monitor improvements.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings and read ERP routings.
• Lead RCCA investigations and implement durable corrective actions.
• Provide engineering support across fabrications facilities to ensure performance.
