Job summary

Nexus Disposal is seeking a Fabrication Shop Manager in Houston to lead daily operations, oversee dumpster fabrication and repair, and manage inventory. You will supervise welders, coordinate with sales, and ensure safety and quality standards across the shop.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years of metal fabrication experience, 2+ years in leadership, and welding on heavy equipment. On-site role with strong teamwork and OSHA compliance required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; welding/fabrication certification preferred.
• 5+ years in metal fabrication, including structural welding and dumpster fabrication.
• 2+ years in a supervisory or managerial role.
• Experience welding on diesel trucks or heavy equipment.
• Able to read blueprints, welding symbols, and fabrication schematics.
• Strong inventory management and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily fabrication shop operations to ensure efficient workflow and quality workmanship.

Job OverviewThe Fabrication Shop Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the fabrication shop, with a strong focus on building, repairing, and maintaining roll-off and front-load dumpsters. This role also includes occasional welding repairs on diesel trucks and the management of all dumpster inventory on-site. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in metal fabrication, team leadership, and inventory control, and will work closely with the sales department to keep them informed of available stock for customer needs.Key ResponsibilitiesOversee all daily operations of the fabrication shop, ensuring efficient workflow, quality workmanship, and adherence to deadlines.Lead the fabrication and repair of roll-off and front-load dumpsters, ensuring each unit meets company standards for durability and safety.Perform and assign welding repairs on diesel trucks and related fleet equipment as needed.Manage the inventory of all dumpsters (cans) on-site, including tracking completed, in-progress, and repair-status units.Work closely with the sales department to provide real-time updates on available dumpster inventory and production timelines.Maintain accurate records of all fabricated and repaired units in the inventory management system.Prioritize and schedule work orders based on operational demands and sales requirements.Ensure proper use and maintenance of all fabrication tools, equipment, and materials.Maintain a clean, organized, and OSHA-compliant work environment.Train, supervise, and evaluate fabrication staff and welders, fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and teamwork.Coordinate with the operations and maintenance teams to support fleet readiness and fabrication-related needs.Conduct quality control inspections on all completed work to ensure it meets company and industry standards.QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent required; technical or vocational certification in welding or fabrication preferred.5+ years of experience in metal fabrication, including structural welding and dumpster fabrication.2+ years of experience in a supervisory or managerial role.Strong understanding of roll-off and front-load dumpster construction standards.Experience welding on diesel trucks or heavy equipment.Proficiency in using fabrication tools, welders, cutting torches, grinders, and measuring instruments.Ability to read and interpret blueprints, welding symbols, and fabrication schematics.Strong organizational and inventory management skills.Excellent communication and team leadership skills.Ability to work independently and collaboratively across departments.Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.Forklift certification Required·BenefitsCompetitive pay based on experienceHealth, dental, and vision insurancePaid time off and holidays401(k) retirement planOpportunities for training and advancement
