Cummins Inc. is seeking a Support Specialist for our manufacturing team at the Columbus, IN facility. You will fabricate and repair equipment, read drawings, and support maintenance with custom solutions to enhance reliability and safety.

The role requires hands-on fabrication skills, precision measurement, and collaboration with engineers and operations to complete projects safely, on time, and within budget. On-site work with a strong focus on health and safety practices is essential.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Fabrication, modification, and repair of equipment and structures per specs.
• Operate manual machine shop equipment to manufacture and recondition parts.
• Read mechanical drawings and blueprints for fabrication.
• Design and fabricate custom solutions for reliability and safety.
• Perform precise measurements with calipers and micrometers.
• Assist installation, alignment, and repair of mechanical systems.
• Support electrical, mechanical, plumbing, HVAC, and building systems.
• Fabricate conduit supports, brackets, guards, and structural components.
• Maintain welding, cutting, grinding, drilling, threading skills.
• Troubleshoot equipment failures and support root cause analysis.
• Follow safety requirements including LOTO, NFPA 70E, confined space.
• Maintain organized shop areas and calibrate equipment.
• Support preventive maintenance and part replacement programs.
• Collaborate with engineers and operations to complete projects on time.
• Engage in continuous improvement focused on safety and productivity.
