Job summary

OGI Process Equipment in Sand Springs, OK, seeks a Fabrication Lead to supervise and perform fabrication and welding duties, mentoring fabricators and ensuring ASME/OSHA compliance. The role requires reading blueprints, coordinating daily tasks, and maintaining safety standards.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED or equivalent.
  • 3–5 years of fabrication and welding experience in a shop environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, fabrication drawings, and engineering specifications.
  • Strong knowledge of ASME quality control procedures.
  • Proficiency in welding processes including GTAW (TIG), GMAW (MIG), FCAW, and SMAW.
  • Demonstrated ability to train or mentor less experienced employees.

Responsibilities

  • Perform fabrication, layout, and welding tasks per blueprints and specs.
  • Lead by example on the shop floor with proper welding and safety practices.
  • Provide day-to-day guidance and mentoring to fabricators and welders.
  • Coordinate workflow and prioritize daily tasks to meet production schedules.
  • Inspect workpieces for accuracy and weld quality per ASME and company standards.
  • Train and coach new or less experienced employees.
  • Operate forklifts, overhead cranes, and related equipment safely.
  • Maintain production documentation, quality records, and job hours.

This role ensures jobs are completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with ASME and OSHA standards. The Fabrication Lead works alongside the crew, serves as a mentor for less experienced employees, and acts as the first point of contact for task direction and quality checks.Essential FunctionsReasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Perform fabrication, layout, and welding tasks, including fitting, clamping, tack-welding, grinding, and assembly in accordance with blueprints and specifications.Lead by example on the shop floor, demonstrating proper welding and fitting techniques and safe work practices.Provide day-to-day guidance and mentoring to assigned fabricators and welders, ensuring productivity and adherence to company standards.Assist in coordinating workflow and prioritizing daily tasks to meet production schedules.Inspect workpieces for accuracy and conformance to drawings, verifying weld quality meets ASME and OGI requirements.Train and coach new or less experienced employees on tools, equipment, and processes.Operate forklifts, overhead cranes, and other equipment safely to support fabrication work.Ensure accurate completion of production documentation, quality records, and job hours.Report equipment issues, safety concerns, and workflow challenges to the Fabrication Foreman or Production Manager.Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment and comply with all safety rules and regulations.Perform other duties as assigned.OGI has determined this position involves safety-sensitive job duties and will be considered a safety-sensitive position for purpose of the Oklahoma Medical Marijuana and Patient Protection Act (“The Unity Bill.”) effective August 29th, 2019.CompetenciesTechnical Expertise in Fabrication and WeldingHands-On LeadershipSafety AwarenessAttention to DetailCommunication ProficiencyTeam Development and MentoringSupervisor ResponsibilityThis position does not have formal supervisory authority but provides day-to-day direction, training, and mentoring to assigned fabrication employees under the oversight of the Fabrication Foreman and Production Manager.Work EnvironmentThis position operates in a non-temperature-controlled fabrication shop with exposure to loud noises, dust, dirt, and metal particles. Employees are required to wear PPE, including hearing protection, safety glasses with side shields, welding hoods, grinding shields, safety harnesses when applicable, and OSHA-compliant safety boots/shoes.Physical DemandsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.Regularly required to stand for long periods of time, walk, reach, bend, kneel, and stoop.Must be able to ascend/descend ladders and lift/move up to 50 pounds.Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.Position Type/Expected Hours of WorkThis is a full-time position.
