Job summary

JGM is seeking a Fabrication Foreman to lead daily production at our manufacturing sites, driving safety, quality, and efficiency while leading crews of 10–25 welders, fitters, and fabricators. You will plan, problem-solve, and ensure timely delivery of production demands in a fast-paced environment.

The role requires hands-on leadership, strong trade knowledge, and collaboration with shop leadership to uphold best-in-class safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

  • 3–7 years in manufacturing, fabrication, or industrial environments, including 3+ years in structural steel fabrication.
  • Mastery of the highest skill level in a primary trade (welding or fitting), with the ability to teach others.
  • Prior experience leading or coordinating crews on a production floor.
  • Working knowledge of AISC, AWS D1.1, and project specifications.
  • Ability to read fabrication drawings and production instructions.
  • OSHA 30 certification, or in progress per company plan.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • A hands-on leadership style with a team-first mentality.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; knowledge of ERP systems and TEKLA.

Responsibilities

  • Drive fabrication operations, owning safety, quality, schedule, productivity, LEAN manufacturing and cost performance in support of the Plant Superintendant.
  • Create and maintain a positive, disciplined work environment aligned with JGM's values, leading by example on safety, quality, and pace.
  • Ensure the crew follows daily pre-task plans/JHAs, PPE requirements, and hot work, lifting/rigging, and LOTO rules; champion the Good Catch program and a no-blame safety culture.
  • Run daily huddles covering safety focus, the plan, constraints, and expectations; set clear daily goals.
  • Support a culture of root-cause problem solving so issues get solved permanently rather than repeatedly.
  • Direct daily fabrication activities, assign work, and schedule crews to meet production demands and deadlines.
  • Hold crews accountable to safety, attendance, and work standards consistently.
  • Plan fit-up and weld sequencing with Leads to control distortion and reduce rework.
  • Verify work meets AISC, AWS, and project specifications; partner with QC on trends and corrections.
  • Plan tools, materials, and consumables so crews can execute without waiting.
  • Understand fabrication and welding equipment and support troubleshooting and setups as needed.
  • Coordinate workflow with processing, material handling, and shipping to keep work moving through the shop.
  • Develop the team through coaching, training plans, performance feedback, and discipline when needed.
  • Coach Leads to be your fill-in during absences and to develop bench strength in the organization.
  • Maintain clear communication with the Plant Superintendent and shop leadership throughout the shift.
  • Other duties as assigned.
