Seventh Form Studio in Long Island City, NY seeks a student or recent graduate to join as a designer, drafter, and maker—turning design concepts into clear, buildable drawings while learning how drawings translate into real objects in our shop.
You’ll work beside the studio owner, gaining hands-on experience from design through fabrication, with opportunities to develop CAD packages, fabrication detailing, CNC preparation, and project coordination within a small team.
Seventh Form Studio is a small design and fabrication studio in Long Island City, New York, currently run by a single artist, designer, and fabricator.
We create one-of-one custom furniture, architectural features, sculpture, and specialty pieces for residential and hospitality projects. Every project is different, working across materials including metal, resin, acrylic, wood, and glass.
We’re looking for a student or recent graduate who falls somewhere between a designer, drafter, and maker—someone interested in turning design concepts into clear, buildable drawings while also understanding how those drawings translate into physical objects.
You’ll work and learn directly alongside me, gaining firsthand experience as projects move from design and problem-solving through fabrication in the shop.
We’re looking for a third- to fifth-year student or recent graduate who is creative, technically minded, organized, dependable, and comfortable asking questions.
You should enjoy figuring out how things go together and how they can actually be made, with an interest in custom furniture, architectural fabrication, digital manufacturing, and one-of-one design.
You don’t need to know every process we use. Curiosity, attention to detail, willingness to learn, and an interest in both designing and making are more important.
For the right person, there is an opportunity to grow into greater responsibility with CAD, shop drawings, design development, fabrication detailing, CNC preparation, and project coordination.
You’ll learn directly from me while working on active projects and gain hands‑on exposure to design development, fabrication detailing, CNC machining, 3D printing, metal fabrication and welding, resin casting and moldmaking, acrylic fabrication, specialty finishes, assembly, and other processes depending on the project.
Most importantly, you’ll see your drawings become physical pieces and learn how materials, tolerances, construction methods, and real-world fabrication affect design.
On-site installation opportunities may also be available upon request.
