In addition to these core services, Midwest Welding & Machine provides repairs on trailers and snowplows. Role Description

The Fabrication Department Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in Bozeman, MT. This role oversees daily fabrication operations, including scheduling work, allocating resources, and coordinating projects to meet production deadlines and quality standards. The manager provides hands-on leadership to fabrication team members, supports training and development, and promotes a safe, organized work environment. Day-to-day responsibilities include monitoring workflow, resolving production issues, collaborating with other departments, reviewing job specifications, enter new projects, and closing out jobs and ensuring that welding and fabrication work meets customer and company requirements. The role also involves contributing to continuous improvement efforts, maintaining equipment readiness, and supporting accurate documentation and reporting.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated supervisory skills, including team leadership, coaching, and performance management.
• Experience in production and operations management, with the ability to plan workloads, prioritize tasks, and optimize processes.
• Strong quality control focus, with the ability to inspect work, interpret drawings and specifications, and uphold fabrication standards.
• Hands-on welding experience and technical knowledge of fabrication methods, materials, and equipment.
• Commitment to workplace safety and compliance with relevant regulations and best practices.
• Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate with internal teams, vendors, and customers.
• Organizational and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail in documentation and follow-through.
• Previous experience in a metal fabrication, welding, or industrial manufacturing environment; supervisory experience preferred.
• High school diploma or equivalent required; additional technical training or certifications in welding or fabrication are beneficial.
