Job summary

Bear Event Design is seeking a skilled Fabrication Associate to support our custom production work by turning creative concepts into physical event elements that are built, finished, and installation-ready. Under the Lead Fabricator, you’ll perform hands-on fabrication, assembly, sanding, painting, and finishing.

You’ll collaborate with Design, Graphics, Floral, Warehouse, and Production teams to keep projects moving on deadline, manage multiple builds, and ensure safety and quality in a

Qualifications

• 2+ years of hands-on fabrication, scenic production, wood shop, set building, prop building, or related experience.
• Experience working with a wide range of materials and build types, including scenic, structural, decorative, and event-specific fabrication.
• Strong working knowledge of shop tools, fabrication equipment, materials, hardware, adhesives, finishes, and safe work practices.
• Ability to read and interpret renderings, sketches, basic plans, measurements, production notes, and installation requirements.

Responsibilities

• Build custom sets, props, scenic elements, structural pieces, and event-specific fabrication projects from design through completion.
• Repair, refurbish, and maintain event furniture, props, and décor. Perform touch-ups (painting, sanding, woodworking) to keep pieces event-ready.
• Collaborate closely with creative team and other departments to plan, build, paint, finish, and prepare custom elements for events.
• Able to manage multiple projects at different stages, prioritizing deadlines, shifting needs, and production timelines without losing quality or momentum.
• Collaborate with the warehouse team to prioritize repairs for upcoming events, troubleshoot and fix structural and mechanical issues quickly.
• Maintain a clean, safe, organized, and productive fabrication area, following proper shop safety practices. Assist with material planning, purchasing needs, and shop readiness for upcoming builds.
• Occasionally support larger event installations and strikes, helping ensure custom elements are installed efficiently, safely, and according to the design plan.

We are seeking a skilledFabrication Associateto support Bear’s custom production work by helping turn creative concepts into physical event elements that are built, finished, and prepared for installation. Working under the direction of the Lead Fabricator, this role assists with hands‑on fabrication, assembly, sanding, painting, finishing, material prep, shop organization, and post‑processing of CNC‑cut pieces.

This position is ideal for someone who enjoys making things, learning new fabrication methods, and contributing to high‑impact event environments in a fast‑moving creative shop. The Fabrication Associate works closely with the fabrication team and may collaborate with Design, Graphics, Floral, Warehouse, and Production teams to help keep projects moving on deadline and bring custom builds from idea to install‑ready reality.

Your responsibilities:

Who you are:

• Hands‑on, resourceful, and comfortable building real things in a fast‑moving creative production environment

• Highly skilled with tools, materials, fabrication methods, finishing techniques, and practical problem‑solving

• Proactive, adaptable problem solver who identifies issues early and develops solutions, with the ability to move quickly between materials, project types, finishes, and deadlines

• Collaborative, communicative, and able to work well across departments and teams

• Ability to lift/move up to 50 lbs and help with event setup when needed.

Requirements:

• 2+ years of hands‑on fabrication, scenic production, wood shop, set building, prop building, event production, or related experience

• Experience working with a wide range of materials and build types, including scenic, structural, decorative, and event‑specific fabrication

• Strong working knowledge of shop tools, fabrication equipment, materials, hardware, adhesives, finishes, and safe work practices

• Ability to read and interpret renderings, sketches, basic plans, measurements, production notes, and installation requirements

• Computer literacy and comfort using project management tools, digital files, email, and internal communication systems

• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

Pay Range

• $25 - $30/hr depending on experience
