Job summary

Sora Resource Group is seeking an organized Fabric Assistant to support the fabric development and production team in New York. This entry-level role offers hands-on experience with fabric sourcing, development, quality, and production processes.

You will coordinate fabric samples, maintain charts and documentation, liaise with suppliers, track submissions, and assist with purchase orders while supporting day-to-day activities across development and production.

Qualifications

• 0–2 years of experience in textiles or related field.
• Basic knowledge of fabric terminology, construction, fiber content, and fabric development and production processes is a plus.
• Strong interest in textiles and willingness to learn about fabric sourcing, development, and production.
• Highly organized and detail-oriented, with strong follow-up and time management skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Comfortable communicating with mills, factories, and internal teams.
• Proactive, dependable, and eager to learn.
• Experience with PLM or other product-development systems is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist with fabric sourcing, development, and follow-up with suppliers.
• Maintain and organize fabric samples, production samples, and related records.
• Prepare and maintain fabric charts for both development and production.
• Collect and upload FDS and other required documentations, including test reports and sustainability certificates.
• Assist with creating and placing purchase orders for proto and sample yardage.
• Communicate daily with mills and factories to monitor sample yardage status and deliveries.
• Track fabric submissions, approvals, and production status.
• Follow up on outstanding sample requests, approvals, and production-related issues.
• Assist with purchase orders, shipping information, invoices, and other fabric-related documentation.
• Assist with reviewing fabric quality and color and providing comments to suppliers.
• Perform general administrative tasks as needed.
