Job summary

TP Mechanical Contractors in Columbus, OH seeks a Fabrication Shop team member to assemble fixtures, carriers and hangers, with light soldering. Must read blueprints and communicate professionally with TP Mechanical staff to represent the company.

Responsibilities include material management, safety-first execution, and coaching junior workers to ensure project quality and profitability. Must provide own basic hand tools and perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Minimum 4 years construction or plumbing experience.
• Experience with PVC, Copper, and Steel Pipe preferred.
• Must provide own basic hand tools.
• Journeyman license or Med Gas certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage materials to ensure timely completion of the work scheduled.
• Maintain safety practices first and foremost during all task assignments.
• Ensure quality and profitability by eliminating waste in materials and labor.
• Coach lower echelon mechanics and helpers and provide training to improve quality and safety.

Job description

Responsible for daily work in the Fabrication Shop, including on-time start of work. Work includes assembly of fixtures, carriers, hangers, and light soldering. Applicant should be able to read and understand blueprints, communicate effectively with all other persons in the Fabrication Shop, including all TP Mechanical personnel, and represent TP Mechanical Contractors in a professional manner.

Responsibilities And Duties

• Manage materials to ensure timely completion of the work scheduled. Ensures optimal material consumption.
• Strengthens skills to encourage improvement in other plumbers or fitters. Emphasizes commitment to continually improve company procedures and processes by the use and development of measurements, analysis and subsequent changes to procedures in the best interests of the company.
• Focuses on safety and safety practices first and foremost during all task assignments.
• Ensures the quality and profitability of each project by eliminating waste in materials and labor whenever possible.
• Serves as a coach by monitoring lower echelon mechanic and helper production and quality workmanship. Continually provides training in areas needing improvements to ensure quality, production and safety.
• All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications And Experience

• Experience/Qualifications Required:
• Minimum 4 years prior construction or plumbing experience.
• Experience with PVC, Copper, Steel Pipe, and Fixture Carriers preferred.
• Stable work history
• Able to use basic tools (hammer, tape measure, etc.)
• Honest, reliable, dependable and display good character
• Education:
• High School or GED Equivalent
• Journeyman Plumbing License preferred
• Med Gas Certification preferred
• Physical Requirements:
• Eyesight correctable to 20/50
• Able to stand for long hours
• Lift items weighing up to 60 lbs.
• Must not be afraid of heights.
• Special Requirements:
• Must provide their own basic hand tools.
