Job summary

Land Pride, a division of Great Plains Mfg, is seeking a 2nd Shift Fabrication Operator for our Lucas, KS facility. This role runs Monday through Thursday from 4:30 p.m. to 3:00 a.m., with overtime on Fridays as needed.

You will set up, tend and operate fabricating machines (laser, saw, punch press, brake, and related equipment) to cut, shape, and assemble metal parts, read specifications, verify dimensions, and help maintain quality and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Experience operating fabrication equipment and reading specs.
• Ability to verify machined parts meet specifications.
• Willingness to cross-train in different shop areas.

Responsibilities

• Set up, tend and operate fabricating machines to cut, form and finish metal parts.
• Read job specifications to determine machine adjustments and material requirements.
• Check dimensions, remove burrs, and ensure parts meet quality standards.
• Follow safety rules and use prescribed PPE.

2nd Shift Fabrication Operator

Land Pride, a division of Great Plains Mfg, is seeking an experienced 2nd Shift Fabrication Operator for our facility in Lucas, KS.

This position works Monday through Thursday, from 4:30 p.m to 3:00 a.m with overtime on Fridays as required.

Primary Duties And Responsibilities

• Set up, tend and operate fabricating machines such as cutoff saws, shears, rollers, brakes, presses, forming machines, spinning machines, punch machines, laser cutting, CNC plasma that cut, shape, and bend metal plates, sheets, tubes, and structures by performing the following duties.
• Read job specifications to determine machine adjustments and material requirements.
• Set stops or guides to specified length as indicated by scale, rule, template, or computer program.
• Observe machine operation to detect work piece defects or machine malfunction and report as needed.
• Measure work piece dimensions to determine accuracy of machine operation.
• Remove burrs, sharp edges, rust, or scale from work piece.
• Perform minor machine maintenance such as oiling machines, dies, or work pieces.
• Assist machine operators to set up machine, and stack, mark, pack, and transport finished work pieces.
• Follow all Great Plains policies and OSHA safety regulations and wear prescribed safety and protective equipment.
• Other duties may be assigned that require other qualifications, physical demands, and/or work environment.

Preferred Skills And Qualifications

• Knowledge of laser, saw, punch press and press brake operations
• Understanding of product structure and usage of AS400
• Strong mechanical aptitude
• Ability to verify conformance of machined work piece to specifications
• Dedication to ensure products meet or exceed specifications as part of our quality program
• Must be flexible to be cross‑trained in different areas of the shop as required
