Job summary

Land Pride, a division of Great Plains Manufacturing, Inc., is seeking an experienced 2nd Shift Fabrication Operator for our Lucas, Kansas facility. The role involves setting up and operating fabricating machines to cut, shape, and bend metal parts. You will read job specifications, adjust machines, monitor quality, perform light maintenance, and help stage finished pieces.

The position runs Monday through Thursday, 4:30 p.m. to 3:00 a.m., with overtime on Fridays as needed.

Qualifications

• Experience operating fabricating machines and reading work specs.
• Ability to verify conformance of machined parts to specifications.
• Familiarity with safety rules and protective equipment.

Responsibilities

• Set up, tend and operate fabricating machines to cut, shape, and bend metal parts.
• Read job specifications to determine machine adjustments and material requirements.
• Set stops or guides to specified length as indicated by scale or program.
• Observe machine operation to detect defects or malfunctions and report them.
• Measure dimensions to verify accuracy and remove burrs or rust as needed.
• Perform minor machine maintenance such as oiling dies and tools.
• Assist in setting up machines and transporting finished pieces.
• Follow Great Plains policies and OSHA safety regulations.

Land Pride, a division of Great Plains Mfg, is seeking an experienced 2nd Shift Fabrication Operator for our facility in Lucas, KS.

This position works Monday through Thursday, from 4:30 p.m to 3:00 a.m with overtime on Fridays as required.

Primary Duties And Responsibilities

• Set up, tend and operate fabricating machines such as cutoff saws, shears, roller, brakes, presses, forming machines, spinning machines, punch machines, laser cutting, CNC plasma; that cut, shape, and bend metal plates, sheets, tubes, and structures by performing the following duties.
• Read job specifications to determine machine adjustments and material requirements.
• Set stops or guides to specified length as indicated by scale, rule, template, or computer program.
• Observe machine operation to detect work piece defects or machine malfunction and report as needed.
• Measure work piece dimensions to determine accuracy of machine operation.
• Remove burrs, sharp edges, rust, or scale from work piece.
• Perform minor machine maintenance such as oiling machines, dies, or work pieces.
• Assist machine operators to set up machine, and stack, mark, pack, and transport finished work pieces.
• Follow all Great Plains policies and OSHA safety regulations and wears prescribed safety and protective equipment.
• Other duties may be assigned that require other qualifications, physical demands, and/or work environment.

Preferred Skills And Qualifications

• Knowledge of laser, saw, punch press and press brake operations
• Understanding of product structure and usage of AS400
• Strong mechanical aptitude
• Ability to verify conformance of machined work piece to specifications
• Dedication to ensure products meet or exceed specifications as part of our quality program
• Must be flexible to be crossed trained in different areas of the shop as required
