Job summary

Griffin Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago seeks a Camp Associate to oversee the Fab Lab and Fab Lab Studios, ensuring readiness for Camps and Education programs throughout the year. You will help design maker and design workshops for youth and high school students, collaborating with Education teams.

You will manage camp programming with Make_X Grid System, supervise interns and volunteers, ensure safety of lab equipment, and develop engaging, hands-on experiences drawing on

Qualifications

• Minimum 1–3 years in youth or public program facilitation.
• Experience managing learning environments and coordinating logistics.
• Familiarity with design software and maker-space equipment is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Oversee Fab Lab operations and ensure readiness for Camps and Education programs.
• Manage Camp programming with the Fab Lab Make_X Grid System and Camps team.
• Facilitate learning using inquiry-based methods and engage diverse audiences.
• Collaborate with Camps and Education staff to design and implement curriculum.
• Supervise interns and volunteers; ensure safety of equipment and spaces.
• Create engaging experiences using design-thinking and engineering principles.
• Coordinate with staff to prep materials and Fab Lab technology for sessions.
• Assist with community programming and after-hours experiences.
