Job summary

Southern Utah University in Cedar City, UT is seeking a FAA Certificated Flight Instructor to provide flight, simulator, and ground instruction in accordance with 14 CFR Part 61 and Part 141. You will schedule students, maintain records, and ensure each student meets course standards and objectives.

Responsibilities include flight instruction per the Training Course Outline, maintaining training records, managing schedules, attending instructor and student meetings, and supporting safety

Qualifications

• High School / G.E.D. Diploma.
• 200 hours total flight time.
• FAA Certificated Flight Instructor.
• 500+ hours of instruction given and two SUU semesters.
• Current FAA Class I or II Medical Certificate.
• Aircraft piloting skills and knowledge of maneuvers.
• Knowledge of instructional techniques and FAA regulations.
• Ability to work under pressure in fast-paced, noisy environment with sound judgment.
• Strong customer service skills.
• Maintain 80% pass rate for final reviews and stage checks.
• Position contingent on funding.
• No H1B visa sponsorship for international staff living outside the United States.

Responsibilities

• Provide flight, simulator, and ground instruction per 14 CFR Part 61/141.
• Schedule students and maintain records; ensure training meets standards and objectives.
• Maintain program records including student training records.
• Ensure students understand and practice all aspects of the Safety Program.
• Manage training schedules of all assigned students.
• Attend instructor and student meetings as assigned.
• Other duties as assigned.
