Job description

  • Happy Global is seeking a Product Compliance & Regulatory Manager to ensure our consumer products meet applicable safety, regulatory, labeling, and U.S. import requirements before they reach the market. This role partners closely with Product Development, Sourcing, Supply Chain, Import Operations, Quality Assurance, Marketing, Sales, customs brokers, third-party testing laboratories, and certification agencies to support compliant product launches and importation into the United States across a diverse portfolio, including food, beverages, toys, candy, and general merchandise. While our primary market is the United States, this role will also support our expansion into Canada, the UK, and Europe.
Key Responsibilities
  • Review new products to identify applicable regulatory, testing, labeling, certification, and U.S. import requirements.
  • Assess products before shipment to confirm that required testing, certifications, registrations, labeling, and import documentation are complete.
  • Partner with suppliers, Supply Chain, Import Operations, and customs brokers to support the compliant importation and entry of products into the United States.
  • Identify applicable requirements of agencies involved in U.S. imports, including the FDA, CPSC, CBP, and other relevant federal and state authorities.
  • Support responses to import holds, examinations, requests for information, detentions, refusals, or other regulatory inquiries.
  • Coordinate product testing with third-party laboratories and certification agencies, review test reports, and drive corrective actions across cross-functional teams.
  • Review product labels, packaging, and marketing claims for regulatory compliance, identify risks, develop practical solutions, and lead implementation with internal stakeholders.
  • Evaluate supplier compliance documentation, including test reports, certificates, specifications, declarations, and technical files.
  • Maintain complete product compliance and import-readiness records and supporting documentation.
  • Research and monitor regulatory requirements across the U.S., Canada, the UK, and the EU, and communicate regulatory updates to internal teams.
  • Partner with Product, Sourcing, Supply Chain, Import Operations, Quality Assurance, Sales, and Marketing to resolve compliance issues and enable successful product launches.
  • Help design and strengthen the company’s product compliance governance framework by developing and continuously improving internal processes, templates, checklists, and SOPs.
Qualifications
Required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Regulatory Affairs, Food Science, Chemistry, Engineering, Biology, Supply Chain, International Trade, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in product compliance, regulatory affairs, quality assurance, consumer product safety, or U.S. import compliance.
  • Hands-on experience supporting the importation of regulated consumer products into the United States.
  • Experience reviewing products and supporting documentation for U.S. import readiness before shipment.
  • Working knowledge of U.S. regulatory agencies and import processes, including FDA, CPSC, and CBP requirements.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong research and problem-solving skills, with the ability to quickly learn unfamiliar regulations, identify key risks, and develop practical business solutions.
Preferred
  • Experience importing food, beverages, toys, candy, or general consumer merchandise into the United States.
  • Experience working with overseas manufacturers, customs brokers, import teams, testing laboratories, and government agencies.
  • Experience with FDA food and import requirements, including facility registration, Prior Notice, FSVP, food labeling, or import detention matters.
  • Experience with CPSC, CPSIA, certificates of compliance, consumer product testing, and CPSC import requirements.
  • Familiarity with FTC advertising and marketing claims, California Proposition 65, and consumer product labeling.
  • Experience reviewing supplier compliance documentation and technical files.
  • Experience handling or supporting regulatory examinations, holds, detentions, refusals, recalls, or corrective actions.
  • Familiarity with AI tools to improve regulatory research, documentation, and workflow efficiency.
