Job OverviewThe Food Runner supports the food and beverage team by delivering food and beverage orders accurately and promptly to guests in the hotel’s dining outlets, which may include the main dining room, bar, pool area, or other assigned service locations. This role includes running food and beverages from the kitchen or bar to the correct table, verifying order accuracy and presentation, supporting servers throughout service, clearing and resetting tables, and maintaining a clean, organized service area. Full-time and part-time positions may be available. Shifts, days, hours, and schedules will vary based on business needs, including mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events.Job ResponsibilitiesFood Delivery & Guest ServiceDeliver food and beverage orders promptly, safely, and in the correct sequence to the assigned table or positionVerify each order against the ticket for accuracy, completeness, temperature, and presentation before leaving the kitchenGreet and acknowledge guests warmly when delivering items and respond to immediate needs or requestsCommunicate guest requests, allergies, and special instructions to the server or manager promptlyFollow all company service standards, safety procedures, and sanitation guidelinesService Support & EfficiencyMaintain knowledge of menu items, specials, allergens, plate presentation, and beverage offeringsCoordinate closely with kitchen, bar, and service team members to support accurate and timely order deliveryMonitor the expo line and service flow to keep tickets moving and avoid delaysClear, wipe, and reset tables promptly; assist with bussing, seating, restocking service areas, or supporting other outlet needs as assignedPerform related duties in accordance with safe workload expectations and applicable lawFood Safety & Tray HandlingCarry trays, plates, and beverages safely and steadily through dining and service areasHandle hot plates, hot beverages, and glassware using proper equipment and techniquesMaintain required food temperatures and follow time and temperature control procedures during transportReport spills, breakage, and safety hazards immediately and assist with safe cleanupCleanliness & OrganizationMaintain cleanliness of guest-facing service areas, including tables, stations, and assigned work areasEnsure flatware, glassware, plates, menus, trays, and service items are clean, polished, organized, and properly stockedAssist with opening, closing, and side work duties related to assigned outlet serviceSupport public-facing service-area cleanliness as assignedFollow all sanitation, safety, and chemical-handling proceduresProduct Knowledge & Guest EngagementMaintain knowledge of all property amenities and on-site dining optionsAnswer guest questions about menu offerings and direct more detailed requests to the server or managerSupport a seamless, hospitable guest experience through attentive, team-first serviceEducation: High school diploma or equivalent required.Experience: Food runner, busser, food and beverage, hotel, restaurant, or guest service experience preferred. Equivalent hospitality experience may be considered.Skills and Abilities:Working knowledge of menu items, plate presentation, and food handling standardsExcellent communication skills for guest interaction and team coordinationPositive, friendly, and professional demeanorAbility to deliver prompt, accurate, and hospitable serviceAbility to carry loaded trays and multiple plates safely and steadilyStrong attention to cleanliness, safety, and presentation standardsFamiliarity with property amenities and dining outletsAbility to multitask, prioritize tickets, and work efficiently in a fast-paced service environmentAvailability to work weekends, holidays, and varied shifts as scheduled; overtime will be handled according to hotel policy and applicable law.Ability to follow established policies, procedures, and workplace standardsCertifications: California Food Handler Card required within 30 days of hire. Responsible Beverage Service certification required within 60 days of hire for employees who serve alcoholic beverages.
