  • Ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams and communicate with executive stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Advise the Program Manager and engineering leadership on system architecture, requirements, integration, technical performance, schedules, and risks.
  • Provide technical leadership for reviews such as SRR, SFR, PDR, and CDR.
  • Oversee Technical Interchange Meetings, Integrated Baseline Reviews, Technical Readiness Reviews, and risk-mitigation sessions.
  • Support development, verification, validation, qualification, certification and sustainment of EO/IR capabilities and their integration with avionics and sensors.
  • Evaluate system-level performance, interfaces, interoperability, and risks to ensure requirements are met throughout the lifecycle.

The CNI & EO/IR Chief Engineer serves as the technical liaison for the F‑35 Chief Engineer’s Office, delivering cross‑disciplinary expertise and leadership for Communications, Navigation, and Identification (CNI) and Electro‑Optical /Infrared (EO/IR) systems supporting U.S., partner nations, and FMS customers while safeguarding the technical integrity of the F‑35 Air System.

The CNI & EO/IR Chief Engineer serves as the technical liaison for the F‑35 Chief Engineer’s Office, delivering cross‑disciplinary expertise and leadership for Communications, Navigation, and Identification (CNI) and Electro-Optical /Infrared (EO/IR) systems supporting U.S., partner nations, and FMS customers while safeguarding the technical integrity of the F‑35 Air System.

The Chief Engineer advises the Program Manager and engineering leadership on system architecture, requirements, integration, technical performance, schedules, and risks, and provides technical leadership for key systems engineering reviews including SRR, SFR, PDR, and CDR. The position provides technical oversight for Technical Interchange Meetings, Integrated Baseline Reviews, Technical Readiness Reviews, Integrated Product Reviews, and risk‑mitigation sessions.

The Chief Engineer supports the development, integration, verification, validation, qualification, certification and sustainment of EO/IR capabilities, including their integration with avionics, mission systems, sensors, weapons, and the overall F-35 Air System. The position evaluates system‑level performance, interfaces, interoperability, and technical risks to ensure CNI and EO/IR capabilities satisfy operational and air system requirements throughout the acquisition lifecycle.

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related technical field.
  • Demonstrated expertise in CNI and/or EOIR.
  • Strong understanding of requirements management, design reviews, and verification/validation processes.
  • Ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams and communicate effectively with executive stakeholders.
Desired Skills
  • Master’s degree or higher in a relevant engineering discipline.
  • Extensive experience with military aircraft CNI and/or EOIR modernization programs.
  • Familiarity with airworthiness certification processes and defense acquisition environments.
  • Experience leading complex aerospace or weapon system development programs.
  • Prior Chief Engineer, IPT Lead, or Technical Director experience on large-scale aerospace programs.
Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $182500.00 - $338900.00
