Job summary

Upham's Community Care is seeking an Optical Assistant to join the Eye Care team in a Federally Qualified Health Center setting. The part-time role (20 hours/week) involves assisting with optical sales, guiding patients through selecting glasses, and processing orders in the Flexsys system.

You will greet patients, verify prescriptions with the optometrist, and help with fittings and adjustments while maintaining HIPAA privacy and high-quality service.

Qualifications

• High-school diploma or GED required.
• Previous administrative experience preferred.
• Computer literacy, including Microsoft Office, and ability to learn new programs.

Responsibilities

• Greet, check in/out patients in optical shop with strong customer service.
• Assist patients in selecting, ordering, and dispensing glasses.
• Recommend lenses, coatings, and frames; verify prescriptions with optometrist/ophthalmologist.
• Measure, fit, and adjust eyewear; check lenses with lensometer upon return.
• Process orders in Flexsys; schedule appointments; respond to patient requests.
