Qualifications

• Experience in retail/optical preferred but not required.
• Ability to learn optical knowledge.
• Effective interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Ensure high quality patient care.
• Maintain a professional office and pretest room.
• Understand ocular terminology and abbreviations.
• Explain to patients the types of preliminary examinations.
• Complete paperwork and perform testing prior to doctor examination.
• Promote visual field testing and retinal screenings.
• Perform exam pre-screening.
• Review prescriptions and patient information for special needs; consult with the optician or doctor when necessary.
• Ensure equipment maintenance for both doctor and pre-test.
