Job summary

America's Best, part of National Vision, is seeking an optometric technician to help keep patient flow efficient and assist the optometrist with pre-screenings and testing. Training is provided and no optical experience or certification is required.

This role emphasizes delivering high-quality patient care, maintaining a professional environment, and promoting pre-examination testing. Sundays are off, and a comprehensive benefits package is offered by National Vision.

Qualifications

• Fluent in reading and speaking both English and Spanish.
• Retail/optical experience preferred, but not required.
• Strong customer service skills.
• Ability to learn optical knowledge.
• Clear and concise instruction to customers.
• Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Ensure high quality patient care.
• Maintain a professional atmosphere in the doctor’s office and pretest room.
• Understand ocular terminology and diseases; know ocular abbreviations.
• Explain to patients the types of preliminary examinations.
• Complete necessary paperwork and perform testing prior to doctor examination.
• Promote visual field testing and retinal screenings to eligible patients.
• Perform exam pre-screening.
• Review prescriptions and patient information, identify special needs; consult with optician/Doctor as needed.
• Ensure equipment maintenance for doctor and pre-test areas.
