Job summary

Ascend Vision Partners seeks a Verification and Authorization Specialist to join our eye care network. This role focuses on verifying medical and vision benefits, obtaining referrals and authorizations, and communicating with patients about coverage and costs.

You will support front desk and scheduling to ensure accurate and timely billing in a busy clinical environment. Reporting to the Senior Billing Manager, the position requires at least 1 year of relevant experience and solid computer

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1-year relevant insurance verification and authorization experience in a physician office or similar setting.
• Proficient in computers and practice management software.
• Strong problem-solving and judgement skills.
• Ability to collaborate across departments and build effective relationships with internal and external customers.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Maintains patient demographic information and data collection systems.
• Verify insurance eligibility for medical and vision insurances for upcoming appointments.
• Obtain referrals from PCP or authorizations from insurance prior to upcoming appointments.
• Communicate with patients on status of referral/authorization and updated benefit coverage.
• Collect patient copays, deductibles and other out-of-pocket responsibilities prior to appointment.
• Verify accuracy of referrals/authorizations and enter into Managed Visits.
• Work with front desk staff and schedulers to ensure clean billing.
