Job summary

Valley Medical Group in Easthampton, MA is seeking an Ophthalmic Assistant to support eye care providers across patient visits. You will prepare patients, assist with eye tests, maintain equipment, and help with documentation in a fast-paced clinical setting.

The role requires experience in eye care or customer service, strong organizational and communication skills, and proficiency with Windows-based software.

Qualifications

• Experience in eye care in a clinical, retail, or office setting.
• Minimum of two years experience in a customer service related position.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepares patients for office visit by taking medical history, visual acuity, checking eye movements, color vision, peripheral vision, stereo vision, checking pupillary reaction, completing medication reconciliation, and reviewing allergies.
• Performs Visual Field, Optical Coherence Tomography, Pachymetry, contact lens insertion and removal training.
• Oversees and monitors ophthalmic equipment, requests repairs, and restocks supplies.
• Opens and closes rooms at the beginning and end of the day.
• Sanitizes equipment.
