Job summary

MI Metals, Inc. seeks a reliable Saw Operator to visually inspect and operate the aluminum saw, ensuring safe operation and accurate cuts. You will load extrusions, adjust gauges, and perform quality checks while maintaining a clean, safe workspace.

Candidates should read tape measures to 1/32”, troubleshoot mechanical issues, and communicate in English. The role may require overtime based on business needs and seasonal heat conditions.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED required.
• Ability to read a tape measure to 1/32”.
• High mechanical aptitude and understanding of tape measures.
• Protractors and calipers are a plus.
• Ability to monitor gauges and troubleshoot mechanical issues.
• Must be able to walk/stand for the shift and work in seasonal heat.
• Must read, write and speak English.

Responsibilities

• Visually check the saw and guards to ensure safe operation.
• Adjust saw gauge to customer-specified cut length.
• Load extrusions onto saw deck and perform quality checks.
• Check cut squareness and lubrication levels; perform light maintenance.
• Clear jams and make machine adjustments; operate to meet daily output.
• Maintain clean, safe, organized workstation and follow safety rules.
• Collaborate with coworkers to maximize production and observe quality standards.

Shift:

7:00AM - 5:00PM (Over time as per business needs)

Responsibilities:

• Responsible for visually checking the saw and guards to ensure the saw is in safe working condition.
• Adjust saws gauge to required cut length as specified by customer.
• Load extrusions onto saw deck.
• Perform quality checks according to the documented procedure and checks tolerances.
• Check the squareness of cuts.
• Checks lubrication levels and performs light preventive maintenance.
• Able to clear machine jams and make machine adjustments.
• Possess a working knowledge of methods and techniques of saw operation.
• Maintains a clean and orderly workplace.
• Operates Saws to meet daily output goals and always maintain efficiency goals.
• Monitors equipment to ensure maximum uptime.
• Manufactures quality parts to meet production schedule quantities and dates and audits parts throughout the manufacturing process to meet quality standards.
• Develop an understanding of and continuously improve the performance of the aluminum cutting process.
• Work cooperatively with other operators and supervisors to achieve maximum production capabilities.
• Observe safety rules and practices and report any unsafe acts or conditions to the Supervisor.
• Ensures all quality documents are completed and turned in on time.
• Maintain clean, safe, well-organized workstation and surrounding area.
• Consistently adhere to and support company policies and procedures, including safety, environmental, and quality standards.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED required.
• Can read tape measure down to 1/32”.
• High level of mechanical aptitude.
• A demonstrated understanding of tape measures.
• How to use protractors and calipers a plus.
• Ability to monitor gauges, dials, or other indicators to ensure equipment is working correctly.01>
• Ability to problem-solve and troubleshoot mechanical issues.
• Ability to walk and stand for the entirety of shift.
• Must be able to work in seasonal heat.
• Must be able to read, write, and speak English.
