Job summary

Kelly Services is seeking an Extrusion Press Operator in Glens Falls, NY to operate furnaces, presses and powder processing machinery. You will charge furnaces with materials, monitor process parameters and ensure product quality while maintaining safety standards.

The role offers a weekday schedule (Mon-Fri) with a pay rate of $22-$23 per hour and opportunities to work with an industry leader known for safety and quality.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Mechanical aptitude and ability to operate, adjust and maintain industrial equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications and work instructions.
  • Proficiency with precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, gauges).
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety procedures.
  • Good communication and ability to work independently or in a team.
  • Able to work in hot, noisy environments and lift up to 50 lbs, wearing PPE.

Responsibilities

  • Operate furnaces, casting equipment, presses and powder processing machinery per production orders and specs.
  • Charge furnaces with raw materials, alloys and scrap; blend and prepare metal powders.
  • Monitor and adjust process parameters for consistent product quality.
  • Pour molten metal into molds and operate presses to compact powders.
  • Inspect products for dimensional accuracy, density and surface quality using precision tools.
  • Use hand and power tools and saws to cut metal as needed.
  • Perform routine inspections, crucible changes, cleaning and basic maintenance on furnaces and equipment.
  • Assemble billets, including welding, and record production data in work orders and ERP systems.
  • Operate cranes, hoists or forklifts to move materials and finished products safely.
  • Maintain a clean, safe work area and follow safety and environmental regulations.
  • Support scheduling, preventive maintenance and ISO 9001/14001 processes.

What’s a typical day as Extrusion Press Operator? You’ll be:
  • Operating furnaces, casting equipment, presses, and powder processing machinery based on production orders and specifications.
  • Charging furnaces with raw materials, alloys, and scrap; blending and preparing metal powders to meet requirements.
  • Monitoring and adjusting process parameters (temperature, pressure, compaction, chemical composition) for consistent product quality.
  • Pouring molten metal into molds and operating presses to compact powdered metals.
  • Inspecting products for dimensional accuracy, density, surface quality, and conformance using precision measuring tools.
  • Using hand tools, power tools, and saws to cut metal as needed.
  • Performing routine inspections, crucible changeovers, cleaning, and basic maintenance on furnaces and related equipment.
  • Assembling billets, including welding, and recording production data in work orders and ERP systems.
  • Operating cranes, hoists, or forklifts to safely move materials and finished products.
  • Maintaining a clean, safe, and organized work area, following all safety and environmental regulations.
  • Supporting fine scheduling, preventive maintenance, and ISO 9001/14001 management system processes.
This job might be an outstanding fit if you:
  • Have a High School Diploma or GED (required).
  • Possess prior experience in foundry operations, powdered metal processing, or industrial manufacturing (preferred).
  • Demonstrate mechanical aptitude and the ability to operate, adjust, and maintain industrial equipment.
  • Can read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and work instructions.
  • Are proficient with precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, gauges).
  • Show strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety procedures.
  • Communicate effectively and work independently or as part of a team.
  • Can work in hot, noisy, and physically demanding environments, stand/bend/perform repetitive tasks for extended periods, and safely lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Are able to wear and maintain required PPE, including respirators, heat-resistant clothing, and eye/face protection.
