Job summary

The Extrusion Operator at Trivium Packaging will set up and operate extrusion equipment based on customer specifications. You will read blueprints, set up tooling, perform changeovers, and monitor the line to ensure cans meet quality standards.

In addition to routine maintenance and quality checks, you will communicate with fellow operators on the line to problem solve and prevent non-conformances, while following safety guidelines in a manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• Basic computer skills.

• Measuring with calipers, micrometers, gauges.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and quality control skills.
• Team player with a can-do attitude.
• Ability to stand long hours on concrete.

Responsibilities

• Read blueprints and drawings to determine job specifications and tooling.
• Set up and operate all extrusion equipment.
• Perform routine cleaning and preventative maintenance on extrusion related equipment.
• Observe machine operations to detect faults and adjust the line accordingly.
• Communicate with fellow operators to update on production.
• Perform routine quality checks and record findings to ensure cans meet specs.
• Proficiently perform changeovers and production per customer specs.
• Stop or modify work processes due to non-conformance or unsafe conditions.
• Report potential food safety concerns to QA manager.
• Perform all other job duties as assigned.

Job Duties

• Read blueprints and can drawings to determine job specifications and tooling.
• Set up and operate all extrusion equipment.
• Perform routine cleaning and preventative maintenance on extrusion related equipment.
• Observe machine operations to detect machine faults and make adjustments necessary for the line.
• Communication with fellow operators to update on production.
• Perform routine quality checks and record findings to ensure cans are meeting job specifications.
• Proficiently perform changeovers and production of aluminum containers to the specifications set by the customer.
• Authority to stop and/or modify work processes due to non-conformance and/or unsafe working conditions.
• Report all potential food safety concerns to the quality assurance manager.
• Perform all other job duties as assigned.

Work Environment

This role is in a manufacturing environment and the employee will be exposed to moving mechanical parts that produce noise.
