Job summary

Sealed Air is seeking an Extrusion Assistant in Saint Joseph to support the extrusion line during a 12‑hour night shift. You will assist in operating equipment, setting up machines to SOC, and using computer systems to adjust run conditions.

The role emphasizes safety, quality, and adherence to SOPs. Responsibilities include line start/stop, testing film quality with lab equipment, and supporting maintenance and scheduling with rigorous housekeeping and reporting.

Qualifications

• Assist equipment operation to produce finished goods per specifications.
• Safely stop equipment during normal and emergency conditions.
• Set up machines per SOC using appropriate conditions.
• Use computer system to set run conditions and adjust as necessary within SOC.
• Perform line start up and line shut down.
• Understand and operate extruders safely.
• Follow SOPs for safe and efficient operation of the line.
• Operate production reporting systems for job functions.
• Operate lab equipment safely.
• Test film samples with quality lab equipment.

Responsibilities

• Assist Process Engineer, Maintenance and Shift Supervisor in troubleshooting.
• Follow production schedule issued by production control.
• Maintain excellent housekeeping and recycling practices in your area.
• Complete required computer and paperwork.
• Participate in scheduled Preventative Maintenance activities.
• Operate motorized handling devices including lift truck and pallet jack.
• Wear all required PPE and PPE-related safety gear.

To assist in the operation of an extrusion line in a safe and orderly manner within Standard Operating Conditions. To manufacture a quality product in the most efficient manner possible.

Schedule: 12-hour continuous Shift

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Assist equipment operation to produce finished goods to production specifications.
• Understand and be able to safely STOP equipment during normal conditions and during an emergency.
• Assist in setting machine up to SOC using the appropriate conditions
• Use a computer system to set run conditions and adjust as necessary within SOC
• Perform Line start up and Line shut down
• Understand and safely operate extruders
• Follow all training documents or standard operating procedures (SOP) to safely and efficiently operate the line
• Ability to use production reporting systems to fulfill job functions
• Always safely operate lab equipment
• Understand all quality lab equipment and be able to operate and adjust as necessary to safely test film samples.

Other Requirements

• Operation of motorized handling devices including Lift truck, walk behind, core extractors, and electric pallet jack
• Wears all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and Personal Food Safety (PFS): Beard/Hair Net, hearing protection, safety glasses, and safety shoes. Also wear any additional safety PPE as required.
