Job summary

United Felts is seeking an Extruder Operator for night shift to monitor material and ensure products meet customer specifications and quality standards.

Responsibilities include loading pellets, operating the electric eye system, assisting with setup, and reporting quality issues. Requires GED/HS diploma and completion of 3 months on-the-job training; physical demands include lifting up to 60 lbs and prolonged standing.

  • Keep work area clean and report shortages to supervisor.

Summary

The Extruder Operator (night shift) participates in monitoring material to ensure product corresponds to the agreed customer requirements and meets Quality Control requirements.

Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Read construction sheet and customer requirement sheet fully in order to meet the customer requirements.
  • Responsible for programming electric eye system.
  • Responsible for retrieving and loading pellets in extruder hopper.
  • Assist co-workers in machine setups.
  • Assisting co-workers in tying down material and wrapping material.
  • Participate in reporting any quality problems to supervisor immediately.
  • Label any problem areas in the liner.
  • Perform maintenance duties as needed.
  • Continually review supplies and report to your supervisor any shortages.
  • Ensure drive roller is down prior to a run.
  • Work in a safe manner at all times by following the company safety policies and procedures.
  • Maintain a clean work environment by performing cleaning duties when required.
  • Perform other related duties incidental to work described herein.
  • Will at times be asked to perform other duties.
Education and Experience:
  • GED/High School Diploma.
  • Satisfactorily complete 3 months on-the-job training.
Typical Physical Demands:
  • Ability to perform physically demanding work for 8+ hours a day, including prolonged standing and walking, bending, and twisting.
  • Requires full range of motion including eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 60 lbs. on a continuous basis.
  • Must possess basic math skills.
  • Able to wear required PPE, i.e., hard hats, safety vest, work boots, and/or safety glasses/goggles while working as required by the job.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time, non-exempt position. Days and hours of work are typically Monday through Friday but could include shift work, weekends, evenings and/or holidays - flexibility is required as job duties demand.
