Job summary

United Felts, A Vortex Company, is seeking a night shift Extruder Operator to monitor materials and ensure products meet customer requirements and quality controls.

You will read construction and customer sheets, set up equipment, load pellets, perform maintenance, maintain cleanliness and safety, and work with a team on shifts which may include weekends or holidays.

Qualifications

• GED/High School Diploma.
• Satisfactorily complete 3 months on-the-job training.

Responsibilities

• Read construction sheet and customer requirement sheet fully in order to meet the customer requirements.
• Program electric eye system.
• Retrieve and load pellets in extruder hopper.
• Assist co-workers in machine setups.
• Assist co-workers in tying down material and wrapping material.
• Report any quality problems to supervisor immediately.
• Label any problem areas in the liner.
• Perform maintenance duties as needed.
• Continually review supplies and report shortages to supervisor.
• Ensure drive roller is down prior to a run.
• Work safely by following company policies and procedures.
• Maintain a clean work environment by cleaning as required.
• Perform other related duties incidental to work described herein.
• May be asked to perform other duties.

• Assist co-workers in machine setups.
• Assisting co-workers in tying down material and wrapping material.
• Participate in reporting any quality problems to supervisor immediately.
• Label any problem areas in the liner.
• Perform maintenance duties as needed.
• Continually review supplies and report to your supervisor any shortages.
• Ensure drive roller is down prior to a run.
• Work in a safe manner at all times by following the company safety policies and procedures.
• Maintain a clean work environment by performing cleaning duties when required.
• Perform other related duties incidental to work described herein.
• Will at times be asked to perform other duties.

Education and Experience:

• GED/High School Diploma.
• Satisfactorily complete 3 months on-the-job training.

Typical Physical Demands:

• Ability to perform physically demanding work for 8+ hours a day, including prolonged standing and walking, bending, and twisting.
• Requires full range of motion including eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity.
• Ability to lift and move up to 60 lbs. on a continuous basis.
• Must possess basic math skills.
• Able to wear required PPE, i.e., hard hats, safety vest, work boots, and/or safety glasses/goggles while working as required by the job.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time, non-exempt position. Days and hours of work are typically Monday through Friday but could include shift work, weekends, evenings and/or holidays - flexibility is required as job duties demand.
