Position Summary:

The Extra Help/Floater is a part‑time position responsible for the care and supervision of Infants, to Preschool aged children. (6 weeks-5 years of age) The position assists classroom teachers with daily activities while maintaining a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate environment in accordance with state licensing and CLASS requirements. The Floater may also assist with administrative duties, including greeting families and answering phones, as well as kitchen duties, including meal service, cleaning, and maintaining food safety standards.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide active supervision and care for children, ensuring their safety and well‑being.
  • Assist classroom teachers with daily routines, learning activities, transitions, meals, toileting, and classroom organization.
  • Support administrative duties as needed, including greeting families, answering phones, and assisting with basic center operations.
  • Assist with kitchen duties as needed, including meal and snack service, cleaning, and maintaining food safety and sanitation standards.
  • Perform other duties deemed necessary by the Director.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Ability to prepare, present, and review oral and written information.
  • Ability to assist the teacher in implementing developmentally appropriate lesson plans and activities for young children.
  • Demonstrated computer skills, including, but not limited to, Microsoft Office, e-mail, and database management.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work with a diverse student population.
  • Ability to quickly adapt to different classrooms, routines, and age groups
  • Ability to work cooperatively with teachers and other center staff
  • Ability to assist with basic administrative duties and kitchen duties as needed.
QualificationsMinimum Requirements:

High school diploma or GED required.

Preferred Requirements:
  • Two years of experience working with children aged 6 weeks to 5 years in a childcare setting or a CDA
