Richland County First Steps is seeking a Classroom Floater for Early Head Start in Columbia, SC. The role supports teachers with daily activities, safety, and family engagement, while helping implement weekly lesson plans and monitor development.

Qualifications include Infant-Toddler CDA or related coursework and experience with diverse families. Schedule is Monday–Friday, 8 am–4:30 pm, with eligibility for benefits as described.

Qualifications

• Infant-Toddler CDA credential or ECD 101 completion, or related coursework preferred.
• Experience with infants, toddlers, and diverse families.
• Knowledge of child development, communication, and teamwork skills.
• Familiarity with Creative Curriculum for Infants, Toddlers, and Twos.
• Ability to pass criminal and background checks.

Responsibilities

• Support daily activities: assist with feeding, diapering, dressing, and playtime.
• Ensure safety and cleanliness of the classroom and outdoor areas.
• Engage with parents and assist with conferences/home visits.
• Implement weekly lesson plans and assess child development.
• Maintain compliance with Head Start, First Steps, DSS, DHEC, and CACFP standards.
• Document required paperwork and records.

Salary: $15.65 per hour

About Us:

Richland County First Steps is committed to providing high-quality early childhood education and support to families with infants and toddlers. We are looking for a dedicated Classroom Floater to join our Early Head Start team and help create a nurturing, engaging environment for children aged eight weeks to three years.

Your Role:

As a Classroom Floater, you will:

• Support Daily Activities: Assist teachers with feeding, diapering, dressing, and playtime.
• Ensure Safety and Cleanliness: Maintain a safe, clean, and developmentally appropriate classroom and outdoor environment.
• Engage with Parents: Encourage parental involvement and assist with parent conferences and home visits.
• Implement Lesson Plans: Help execute weekly lesson plans and assess children's development.
• Maintain Compliance: Follow Head Start, First Steps, DSS, DHEC, and CACFP standards and regulations.
• Document Accurately: Complete required paperwork and documentation.

What We’re Looking For:

• Education: Infant-Toddler CDA credential, ECD 101 completion, or a related course is preferred.
