Job summary

SA Metal Group is seeking a Scrap Metal Buyer/Sales Representative to purchase scrap metal and negotiate the best prices while meeting team and individual targets.

You will build and maintain customer relationships, generate new scrap customers, and operate within the group’s professional and ethical standards.

Qualifications

• Must have at least Grade 12 certificate.
• 3 years buying or sales experience in manufacturing, engineering, or scrap/recycling.
• Computer literacy; proficient in Word, Outlook and Excel.
• Must be prepared to work overtime when required.

A Scrap Metal Buyer/Sales Representative (“a Buyer”) focuses on purchasing all types of scrap metal from wherever it may be generated or collected. A Buyer will communicate and negotiate with scrap generators; with the aim of securing scrap metal at the best possible price and meeting team and individual targets.

A Buyer is responsible for managing, developing and maintaining customer relationships. A Buyer is required to generate new scrap customers. A Buyer must at all times conduct himself in such a manner that reflects the professional and ethical values of the Group.

Qualifying Criteria

• A minimum Grade 12 certificate
• At least 3 years of buying or sales experience; preferably in manufacturing, engineering or scrap and recycling industry
• Computer literacy
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel
• Must be prepared to work overtime when required
