Job summary

Valero is seeking an External Reporting Analyst to prepare external financial reports for the SEC, banks, and other regulators. Under supervision, you will assist with Form 10-K, 10-Q, 8-K, 11-K filings and related disclosures, working closely with multiple departments to ensure accuracy and completeness.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and at least 2 years of accounting or auditing experience, with CPA or CPA candidacy required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or higher degree in Accounting is required.
• Two years of accounting, public accounting, and/or auditing experience is required.
• CPA or CPA candidate status is required.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing SEC reports (10-K, 10-Q, 8-K, 11-K) and other regulatory statements.
• Prepare and review workpapers supporting financial statement disclosures.
• Review XBRL instance documents as assigned.
• Collaborate with departments to ensure completeness and accuracy of support workpapers.
• Prepare work papers and drafts of financial statements for audits and filings (Form 11-K, Form 5500, Form 8-K).
• Stay current on new GAAP and SEC reporting requirements and incorporate into processes.
• Assist with identifying and resolving technical accounting and/or reporting issues.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Assist in preparing reports filed with the SEC, including Form 10-K, Form 10-Q, Form 8-K, Form 11-K, and other regulatory statements as required.
• Prepare and/or reviews workpapers supporting financial statement disclosures.
• Review XBRL instance documents as assigned.
• Collaborate with departments as necessary to ensure completeness and accuracy of support workpapers for financial reporting.
• Prepare work papers and drafts financial statements (including footnotes) as assigned for: audits of defined contribution plans (Form 11-K) and related Form 5500 information; limited-scope audits of defined benefit pension plans and related Form 5500 information; Form 8-K filings associated with acquisitions, dispositions, retrospectively adjusted financial statements, etc.; separate company financial statements (audited and non-audited); other reports as assigned.
• Keep current on new GAAP and SEC reporting requirements and incorporates into the reporting process as necessary.
• Assist with identifying and resolving technical accounting and/or reporting issues.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

This position is salaried exempt status, which means you are not eligible for overtime pay.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

• Able and willing to work on-site, in-person at the Valero San Antonio location, required.
• Bachelor’s or higher level degree in Accounting required.
• 2 years of experience Accounting, equivalent Public Accounting, and/or Auditing experience required.
• CPA or CPA Candidate required.

Preferred Requirements

• Experience in the refining industry preferred.
• Master’s degree in Accounting preferred.
• Experience using Workiva's Wdesk application preferred.
• Experience applying XBRL preferred.
