Job summary

The International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) – Americas is offering a paid internship for Summer 2026 in Washington, DC. Two student interns will support the Washington office with external relations activities, events, and research tasks.

The position requires up to 20 hours per week and resides in the DC metro area, with eligibility to work in the US. Ideal candidates are pursuing Security Studies or International Relations, are proactive, capable of independent work, and

Qualifications

• Be at least a rising junior in good standing studying Security Studies, International Relations, or a related field. Recent college graduates will be considered.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Performing daily administrative and operational tasks.
• Regularly updating constituent databases to establish and strengthen external engagement.
• Supporting IISS-Americas events, including pre and post event logistics and on-the-floor assistance.
• Assisting with outreach and external relations, regarding IISS membership, fundraising initiatives, and government relations.
• Carrying out ad-hoc research and data collection.
