Job summary

Peraton is seeking a Junior Software Developer to support a government program in Colorado Springs, focusing on the SWAFS GovCloud solution. This role offers early-career developers the chance to contribute to a mission-critical system in a collaborative Agile environment.

You will work across the software lifecycle, primarily coding in Java with exposure to other languages, participate in unit testing, peer reviews, and backlog grooming, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate

• Associate's degree and 2+ years of relevant software development experience; OR Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field; OR 4+ years of relevant software development experience in lieu of a degree.
• Experience with Agile/Scrum development process.

Responsibilities

• Participate in all phases of the software development lifecycle: definition, design, implementation, unit testing, and code deployment
• Write and maintain application code primarily in Java; exposure to JavaScript, Python, C#, or C++ is a plus
• Develop and execute unit tests to ensure quality of releasable software
• Participate in peer code reviews and incorporate feedback to improve code quality
• Contribute to the SAFe/Agile backlog under the guidance of senior developers and the assigned SCRUM Master
• Collaborate with developers, testers, platform engineers, and software architects to produce and maintain code
• Support REST data/service integrations feeding into SaaS applications
• Assist in documenting processes, code, and technical decisions clearly and concisely
• Participate in usability reviews and contribute to improvements in software design
• Follow established design guidelines, best practices, and coding standards

• This position requires the candidate possess a minimum of Top-Secret clearance with ability to obtain SCI. The candidate must maintain the clearance

Target Salary Range

$51,000 - $82,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
