The Ohio Department of Natural Resources seeks an External Auditor 3 to join the Office of Budget & Finance at Fountain Square Main Campus in Franklin County, Columbus, Ohio. You will conduct audits, lead teams, review agency activities, and prepare reports in line with standard practices.

Starting pay is $34.53/hr with increases to $50.66/hr over 7.5 years, plus potential COLA. Full-time, M-F 8-5, union OCSEA; requires auditing or accounting experience and strong analytical skills.

Qualifications

• 5 yrs. exp. in auditing or accounting with specific auditing experience as described in the job posting.
• Experience leading audit teams and reviewing agency activities.
• Knowledge of GAAP/GAGAS applicable standards is preferred.

We are seeking energetic, passionate people who want to play a key role for the position of External Auditor 3 within the Office of Budget & Finance, headquartered at Fountain Square Main Campus in Franklin County. What you will do:

• Conduct audits alone or with a team, gathering information and reviewing records, operations, and systems according to standard practices.
• Lead audit teams and manage reviews of agency activities, especially for programs that receive funding or oversight from the state.
• Make decisions on routine audit matters, handle tough audit issues, and step in for the supervisor when needed to keep work running smoothly.
• Prepare and review audit reports to ensure they are accurate.
• Follow agency rules and conduct meetings with those being audited.
• Conduct data analysis of financial and programmatic information to identify trends, assess compliance, and support audit findings.
• Offer technical advice to agencies being audited, answer questions about audits, and participate in training and staff meetings.
• Starting hourly pay of $34.53/hr with multiple pay increases over your first 7.5 years of service, with an end salary of $50.66/hr.

Qualifications

5 yrs. exp. in auditing or accounting, which must have included 30 mos. auditing exp. in accordance with auditing standards or in accordance with prescribed management policies &/or procedures as specified on agency position description AND 12 mos. exp. as audit team lead or auditor in charge.

Or completion of undergraduate core coursework in accounting, business administration, computer science or related field AND 3 yrs. exp. in auditing or accounting which must have included 18 mos. auditing exp. in accordance with auditing standards or in accordance with prescribed management policies &/or procedures as specified on agency position description (in accordance with Generally Accepted Government Auditing Standards [GAGAS] and/or OMB Uniform Guidance) AND 12 mos. exp. as audit team lead or auditor in charge.
