Job summary

Actalent is seeking a Bumper Fascia, Grille & Exterior Trim D&R Engineer in Dearborn, MI to own the complete engineering release process for exterior components and to act as the technical interface with supplier partners.

You will handle design release, PLM data management, DFMEA/APQP activities, and cross-functional collaboration to meet program milestones from concept through production support.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or related field.
• Experience with CATIA, Teamcenter/WERS, or similar automotive CAD/PLM tools.
• Strong understanding of GD&T, DVP&R, DFMEA, and APQP processes.
• Experience working with automotive suppliers and launch support activities.

Responsibilities

• Utilize enterprise PLM systems including check-in/check-out processes, version control, data release, engineering changes, and configuration management.
• Perform feasibility analyses including draft analysis, undercut detection, tolerance stack-up reviews, clearance evaluations, and manufacturability assessments.
• Guide supplier partners through the Global Product Development System (GPDS).
• Perform Failure Mode Avoidance (FMA), DFMEA, and risk mitigation activities.
• Collaborate with Design Studio, Vehicle Engineering, Manufacturing, Purchasing, Quality, Program Management, and Supplier teams.
• Managequality, cost, weight, timing, and program deliverables from concept through launch and production support.
• Lead design, development, release, and lifecycle management of bumper fascias, grilles, appliques, claddings, moldings, and exterior trim systems.
• Manage Class-A surface integration, gap & flush performance, pedestrian protection requirements, attachment strategies, appearance quality, and manufacturing feasibility.
• Coordinate tooling reviews, injection molded/plated component development, paint-to-match surfaces, and supplier validation activities.
