Job summary

Goken is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer in California to support engineering design and development activities. You will model exterior trim parts in CATIA 3DX, refine A-surface geometry, and ensure manufacturability and design intent throughout the process.

The role requires a 4+ year background, CATIA V6/3DX proficiency, GD&T know-how, and collaboration with suppliers and internal teams. Travel to client sites is expected. Base pay is competitive and reflects expertise.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 4+ years of relevant industry experience.
• Proficiency in 3D modeling with CATIA V6/3DX and A-surface production-intent design.
• Knowledge of GD&T and tolerance stack-up.

Responsibilities

• Develop exterior trim part models from early concepts through detailed design maturation in CATIA 3DX.
• Create and refine A-surface and engineering surfaces while maintaining design intent and downstream manufacturability.
• Define part geometry, interfaces, attachment features, locating schemes, and datum structures.
• Apply GD&T and support tolerance stack-up reviews to achieve fit, function, and assembly targets.
• Create part specification requirements and BOM.
• Negotiate with surrounding component business units and suppliers.
• Perform cost analysis, strength calculations, and material selection.
• Use best practices and knowledge of internal or external business issues to improve product and/or processes.
• Search for new ways to increase overall efficiency, utilize up-to-date technology, and reduce design and parts costs.
• Travel to client sites required.
