Job summary

EDAG Engineering GmbH in Long Beach, California, is seeking an Exterior Trim Design Engineer to translate initial concepts into production-ready trim components, using A-surface modeling and 3DEXPERIENCE workflows.

You will work cross-functionally with styling, manufacturing, and suppliers to ensure fit, function, and serviceability, applying GD&T and DFM principles throughout the design process.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering required.
• 5 years exterior trim design experience in automotive.
• Hands-on A-surface modeling and production-defining work.
• Knowledge of GD&T, datum schemes, and tolerance stack-up.
• Experience applying DFM to automotive components.
• Proficient with 3DEXPERIENCE (3DX).

Responsibilities

• Develop exterior trim part models from concept to mature design.
• Refine A-surface and engineering surfaces while maintaining design intent.
• Define geometry, interfaces, locating schemes, and datum structures.
• Apply GD&T and support stack-up reviews for fit and assembly.
• Collaborate with DREs, styling, manufacturing, suppliers, and tooling teams.
• Support design reviews, prototype builds, and engineering changes.
• Maintain models and drawings in 3DEXPERIENCE.
