Job summary

ALTEN Technology USA in Long Beach, CA is seeking a Mechanical Systems Engineer to lead exterior sensor integration for ADAS and autonomy sensors. You will own the mechanical envelope, packaging, and cleaning architecture across cameras, radar, lidar, and ultrasonic sensors, interfacing with Exteriors, Electrical, and Perception teams.

The role requires 5+ years in automotive mechanical engineering, CATIA/NX/3DEXPERIENCE proficiency, and hands-on experience releasing exterior sensors.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Automotive, or Systems Engineering.
• 5+ years of automotive mechanical engineering experience on ADAS or autonomy sensor integration.
• Experience packaging exterior sensors and related brackets and housings.
• Knowledge of camera, radar, lidar, and ultrasonic sensors and their mechanical constraints.
• Strong GD&T, tolerance analysis, and datum strategy.
• Proficiency with CATIA V5, 3DEXPERIENCE, or NX, and PLM release systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical integration of exterior mounted ADAS sensors across fascias, windshields, and other locations.
• Define sensor brackets, housings, and mounting interfaces balancing stiffness, mass, cost and serviceability.
• Drive sensor alignment strategy, tolerances, and end-of-line calibration feasibility.
• Own exterior sensor cleaning architecture, including nozzle design and fluid routing.
• Coordinate with thermal/electrical teams on heat rejection, harness routing, and sealing.
• Manage DFMEA, DVPR, boundary diagrams and robustness checklists for sensor subsystems.
• Support prototypes, buck reviews, and vehicle-level test events for sensor performance.
